Abu Hurayrah narrated that

1. As he was passing by, God’s Messenger (peace be upon him) saw a heap of food [on sale]. He put his hand into it and felt that it was wet underneath.  2. He said: ‘O food seller, what is this?’ The man said: ‘Messenger of God, it has been affected by rain’.  3. The Prophet said: ‘Would it not be better for you to put it on top so that people can see it?  4. Whoever cheats does not belong to me.

He was the Prophet’s companion who narrated the largest number of his hadiths, because he committed himself to remain close to the Prophet. He was keen to learn the Prophet’s hadiths and he remained for a long time in Madinah. He died in Year 58 AH, 678 CE.
