عن أبي هريرة رضي الله عنه، قال: قال رسولُ الله ﷺ: «مَن لم يَدَعْ قولَ الزُّورِ والعَمَلَ به والجهلَ، فليس لله حاجةٌ في أن يَدَع طعامَه وشَرَابَه».

Abu Hurayrah narrated that God’s Messenger (peace be upon him) said:
If one will not abandon saying and acting on what is false and wrong deeds, God is in no need of him abandoning his food and drink.

The purpose of fasting is to maintain the path of being God-fearing, specifically restraining one’s tongue and organs from doing what is forbidden. If this purpose is not achieved and a person indulges in what is forbidden during fasting, then such a fast is worthless in God’s sight.
